The Sweet Shop
Brighton Rock
Situated in the heart of Hanover, Brighton’s bohemian artistic district, this turn-of-the-century house used to be…you’ve guessed it- an old sweet shop! From the owners who bought you the popular Crown Garden properties, Smugglers Retreat and The Birdcage, Tom Pike and his wife, interior designer Sophie Robinson, have designed The Sweet Shop to the same stylishly high standard.
Arranged over three storeys, the house has a wonderfully quirky cottage feel. The lower ground floor has an open plan kitchen, dining and living area, which is a fantastic space for a large gathering, opening out to a secluded garden. The slate clad landscaped garden is complete with a summerhouse snug piled high with vintage cushions, table, chairs and BBQ. The property exudes easy elegance with an original mix of flea market finds, fifties florals and rustic touches.
It has a relaxed home-from-home vibe while feeling a little bit extra special too. Each room is packed with charming details; original antique French chandeliers, fifties fabrics, reclaimed wood, mirrored furniture, crystal lamps and floral wallpapers.
This four-bedroom house can accommodate up to 14 with the use of sofa beds (one in the master bedroom, two in the living room) and is the perfect place to stay for families, groups of friends and hen do’s. The property benefits from free on street parking, and a central location: around a ten minute walk to the fashionable North Laine shops and cafes and fifteen minutes to the Pier and the seafront.
