A Summer in Brighton
Brighton is one of the top seaside resorts in the UK and there is no better time to enjoy it than summer. Whatever it is you enjoy you will be able to find something fun to do.
Brighton has a laidback, eclectic and metropolitan vibe all year round, but this is especially noticeable in summer. There are endless places to sit outside with a coffee, ice cream or beer, while you soak up the sunshine and people watch. At night there are endless live music venues, clubs and parties where you can dance the night away. Here are some suggestions of things to do in summer in Brighton.
Wherever you go in Brighton, you can’t escape the fact that it is beside the seaside, beside the sea. There are beach activities for everyone. You can spend the sunbathing and eating ice cream and not going further than your ankles in the sea. Or, if you’re a keen swimmer you could take part in an endurance test, such as the annual paddle round the pier.
If that isn’t enough water sports for you, go to Hove Lagoon for lessons and activities such as wakeboarding and windsurfing. You can either get involved or sit and relax in the café and watch your friends and family give it a go.
Praise be! Saltdean Lido has reopened! Not technically in Brighton, Saltdean is a mere 5 or 6 miles east of central Brighton and home to a stunning art deco lido which after extensive refurbishments has just opened its doors again for the first time in 7 years. There is a 40m heated pool and paddling pools for your younger travel companions. It is perfect for spending a lazy summer day on the lawns, with the occasional in the pool.
Not that we’re biased, but we think Brighton Pride is one of the best in the world. It is certainly one of the biggest. The gay scene in Brighton is massive and diversity is something that the whole city is proud of. Brighton Pride is a party like no other and a huge celebration of the gay community, while remembering how much more work there is to do for international equality. This year, Pride is on 4th – 6th August.
